Seville is literally a infierno. That’s why almost every sevillano has a second home at the beach! Especially in July and August staying in seville is close to committing suicide. Survival strategy: Escaping to the beaches nearby.
Vamos a la playa. That’s what everybody is having in mind. Also the guiris. But unlike the locals, we don’t have a second beach house and many are also new to the question: How to reach the ocean? Which are the beaches? And how do I do it without a car?
3 ways: how to reach the beach?
Without a car you have to use transporte público, means bus or train. But there’s another option you may haven’t thought of…
Bus
Wanna explore the beaches near Seville by public transport: Take the bus!
There are many destinations to choose all around Huelva or Cádiz. You take most of them at Plaza de Armas. In High Season it’s better to get your ticket in advance or book it online. The schedule is also available online and you should check them. Sometimes there can be changes due to local holidays no one know about xD.
Damas, TG Comes and Los amarillos (samar)
The fastest and most popular connection from Seville is “Matalascañas”. In only 45 minutes you can roll out your beach towel and jump into the water. It’s a highly visited beach also due to the cheap ticket (7€). The ticket is also available online: website of the company Damas. Make sure you have your ticket safe, particularly at the weekends, holidays and good weather 😉
Train
Getting to the beach by Train (Renfe)is more difficult. The only good connection you have is Sevilla – Cádiz. But train is usually more expensive than the bus.
TIP: Car sharing like Blablacar or Amovens
In my opinion the best option is to share a ride with someone. That’s how you not only can explore beaches you can’t reach by public transport, but it’s also the cheapest, fastest and most comfortable way to get away.
A trip to Punta Umbria (close to Huelva) takes only 40 minutes and costs around 5€. The most popoular companies you can look for a ride are Blablacar (paying a small fee) and Amovens (no fees).
PLUS: du kommst auch mal an die Strände, die du mit dem Bus nicht erreichst! Mein Favorit is “Roche” direkt neben Conil. Wunderschöne Buchten und türkisfarbenes Wasser!! Eine halbe Stunde weiter kommen “los caños de meca” und “el palmar”. Beides tolle Strände.
Rent a car via Amovens
With Amovens not only you can find a ride, but also a car! How does it work? People offer their private car to rent for a day or more. You can rent a car already for 20€/day including 150km for free. Then you have to pay some aditional cost per km. But with 150km/ you already reach some beaches nearby 🙂
So if you are a group and want to explore the beach area by your own, this is an amazing alternative to car sharing!
